McKyla and Arizona had the cutest ceremony and reception! The venue was absolutely stunning, and the color scheme of pinks and neutrals created a soft and romantic ambiance, perfectly capturing the essence of their love story. This day was full of memorable moments packed with fun and whimsy wedding day ideas. If that is something you’re looking to add to your own wedding then definitely read on and see some of my favorite ideas from this couples wedding day.
Have you ever heard of flower guys? Instead of the traditional flower girl Mckyla and Arizona decided to surprise their guests with a fun and unexpected twist to the processional. Imagine the laughter from your guests as your adult friends make their way down the aisle scattering petals, dancing and being as silly as they please. I’ve also seen other versions of this, such as “beer boys” and “flower pets” so definitely feel free to get creative, your guests will love seeing something new and unexpected.
Create a heartfelt and emotional ceremony by including your parents or other loved ones that know you well as your officiant(s). It’s a beautiful way to honor those close to you and make them an integral part of your special day as well as adding a unique perspective and personal touch that a hired officiant would not be able to duplicate. This couple even had two, McKylas parents so if you cant decide maybe take note. 😉
Consider adding a flower or confetti toss into the day, either for your guests after the ceremony or for your bridal party to celebrate and cheer you on right after you say “I DO”. Just make sure that if you are planning on adding any kind of grand exit or celebration like this to always ask your venue beforehand to get it approved. However, large flower petals like the ones featured in this wedding are usually a safer bet since its a lot easier clean up.
Most couples never even see their cocktail hour or enjoy drinks with friends before their reception because usually that time is spent taking formal photos, but consider joining your guests for the last 10-15 min of cocktail hour. Just make sure you let your photographer and coordinator know so they can make sure things stay on schedule. This allows you to mingle, chat, and relax with your loved ones before the reception officially begins and it gives your photographer a chance to capture more candid moments with you and your guests.
I highly recommend adding a photo-booth to your reception, provide props and costumes so that your guests can let loose and capture hilarious moments. These candid shots will not only entertain your guests, but they will provide a playful addition to your wedding album that you might not get with your professional photos.
Another way you can include your guests in some fun photo taking fun is with a photo scavenger hunt. Leave disposable cameras on each table with a list of fun and creative shots for your guests to take. This interactive activity will result in unexpected and charming snapshots that perfectly capture the essence of your special day. Its also just really fun seeing your wedding through your friends and families eyes.
Mckyla and her dad surprised their guests with a Choreographed dance and it definitely got a wonderful reaction. Planning something like this with your mom, dad, and/or future spouse will not only create a truly unforgettable moment, but also showcase your unique bond with them. It’s a way to express your love and create lifelong memories and a huge plus for Mckyla and her dad was that everyone else seemed to want to join them on the dance floor right after.
By incorporating some of these ideas into your own wedding, you’ll be creating a day that is truly memorable and inclusive for your friends and family, making sure that everyone is enjoying their time celebrating with you.
