Gillian and Isaiah certainly know how to make a couples session unforgettable! They came prepared with wine and flowers, bringing a special touch to their photoshoot. However, with a severe thunderstorm looming, we weren’t sure if we would even have the chance to capture anything on camera.
With a bit of luck, the storm quickly passed and we took advantage of the incredible backdrop it provided. Gillian and Isaiah, undeterred by the weather, embraced each other with pure joy and excitement, ready to enjoy an evening of storm chasing, which Isaiah shared was his childhood dream job, and Trader Joes wine tasting.
Toasting to the unpredictability of life, I couldn’t help but appreciate how this unexpected weather added a layer of authenticity to their photos. Photography is not just about capturing pretty pictures. It is about capturing life – the stories, the emotions, the unexpected moments that make each session and couple unique.
So if you’re taking your own photos soon, you might want to think about more than color coordinating. Think about the story you want to share with everyone, when you post your photos or send ‘save the dates’. You can plan your entire shoot around a favorite date night or maybe pick a location that is meaningful; where you met, first kissed, said ‘I love you’…
Once you know what you want to document with your significant other, make sure that you give us photographers a little heads up. Share a bit with us so that we can make sure we’re capturing the whole picture. No more stiff poses, its time to embrace photos that have meaning.
