What Is The Best Month For An Arizona Wedding?

For all its rustic beauty, Arizona does have its seasonal downfalls. When it comes to how to plan a wedding in Arizona, it’s crucial to consider the timing carefully. The summer months from June to September can be scorchingly hot, and the state experiences monsoon season, which can bring unpredictable weather and heavy rains — not exactly ideal for your special day.

The most popular months for weddings in Arizona are October and November. These months offer milder temperatures and beautiful scenery, making them highly sought after by couples. If you’re eyeing a fall wedding in Arizona, be prepared to book your vendors WAY in advance — I’m talking at least a year or more if you want the cream of the crop.  

It’s also important to consider your wedding location when choosing the time of year. Flagstaff and Sedona, for example, are cooler areas of Arizona and can even get snow in the winter. October is still a popular month in these areas, though, as the weather is warm, and the leaves start changing colors, adding a magical touch to your wedding photos.

Also, depending on where you choose to say, “I do” (or sometimes even just take romantic portraits), you may need special use permits. However, not all of Arizona requires permits. For example, most spots in Sedona currently don’t require a permit to get married, making it a popular destination for couples looking for a hassle-free experience. 

That said, some of these Sedona locations might require 4×4 vehicles to reach, or you might need to be in good shape (and high spirits!) for a hike to your picturesque wedding spot.
